Don't mess with Honey!

We have always had great luck travelling the back roads. So much more interesting that the highways. Here is no exception except that we didn't have a detailed road map and we had to deal with a recalcitrant GPS. Honey as we know her, had much different ideas of how to get from Tavira, Portugal, to Arcos de la Frontera, Spain. She resisted having us choose anything but her way and recalculated us until our hair stood on end. Turning her off wasn't a healthy option. We really didn't have a clue where we were half the time. As a result, it took us three times as long as it should have and we have now seen the total land mass of the South-west corner of Spain. We zigzagged over every road imaginable often realizing we were either seeing double or we'd be there before....
Lesson learned. Don't mess with Honey. Let her do the driving
We passed a couple of these wagons before leaving Portugal. They are only allowed on the smaller roads.

Fruit stand on the side of the road - oranges freshly picked from groves we drove through.
Portugal and Spain suffering drought conditions. We crossed over many dry or nearly dry river beds.

Hundreds of miles of these plastic-covered rows of plants. They go on forever.
Donana National Park. The only small part of southern and central Spain we've seen that isn't heavily cultivated.

Heading into the hills of Andalucia
