Afternoon in Tavira

We did NOTHING this morning! Just sat outside our favourite cafe sipping coffee con leche and watching the world go by. Actually we did start our plans for our next phase. We are here until Tuesday then off to see the Pueblos Blancos (White Towns) of Andalucia.
It was a beautiful day - sunny and warm. After lunch we went into Tavira for another walk about. The town was very quiet. Tourists could be counted on one hand. We wandered the winding streets of the old town then sat with locals outside a coffee/bakery in the town centre.

Beautiful day in Tevira

Private gate with cultivated flowers overflowing.

This wall protects a private garden that is still flourishing. Parging over the original stone wall is more decorative.
Buildings attached to 12th Century Castle. Guess the stone walls provided great support.

It is November after all - not many things flowering but bougainvillaea vines are everywhere and you can imagine the incredible sight in the summer.

Our favourite treat in Portugal - the traditional Pastel du Nata - a custard tart (recognize it Christie?)

  1. Do I!! Eat some for me okay? Are they as yummy as Vanda’s were?
    Looks gorgeous where you’re at.
My theory is that sheep had a taste of Pastel du Nata and is ever hopeful it will happen again.

  2. I'll do the best I can to eat your share too. These last ones were especially good. They are in every cafe but these were especially good. They usually have a blackened top that almost looks like they are burnt. They don't taste burnt but have been cooked at 500 degrees! Not sure why.
